Yes, my soul, find rest in God. My hope comes from him. Psalm 62:5

I’ve never given a thought to what Jesus did on the Wednesday before he was crucified. We know Sunday. We know Thursday and Friday. But what did he do Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday?
My devotional today suggests he rested on Wednesday. Preparing himself for what he knew was coming. Preparing those around him.
That’s a good lesson to learn. Of course all of Jesus’ lessons are good, but this one – rest – is one that we all could stand to use. We catch ourselves so caught up in expectations. We need to do this. Or that. Or we have to be this. Or that. We have to get this done. Or else. Or else what? It doesn’t get done? So what!? Does the world end?
NO!!
No matter what I don’t get done – the world will not end.
But… in those thoughts, my peace is stolen.
In those thoughts my joy is diverted.
In those thoughts I wear myself out.
Jesus tells us to find rest. In Him. Because that is where my peace and joy and hope is truly found.
